# Which claims deserve a closer look?

Look for answers you can check. Keep a claim beside the record that is meant to support it.

## A prescription skipped

Evidence note

### An order is required

Federal law was violated when a prescription medicine was dispensed without its required prescription, as checked September 26, 2026.

Federal prescription requirement

Someone licensed to prescribe writes the medicine order known as a prescription.

### What is missing from the offer?

Ask who assessed you and who will answer a medical question afterward. A treatment menu is not an answer to either question.

## Approval implied by a badge

FDA is the national agency for medicine reviews. Read “FDA” as “Food and Drug Administration.”

Evidence note

### Registration is a different claim

A business registering with FDA did not thereby gain approval for itself or its medicines, as checked September 26, 2026.

Federal rule on registration and listing

FDA: what approval means

Describing a compounded medicine as having FDA approval was a false claim at the September 26, 2026 check.

The pharmacy or facility preparing a medicine for an order is called the compounder.

Ask for the exact product record and the actual compounder’s name.

## Results guaranteed

Evidence note

### Nevada’s advertising rule

Nevada medical-board rules barred its licensees from guaranteeing treatment results or using misleading price claims, as of September 28, 2026.

Nevada rules: medical-board licensees

This rule applies to people licensed by Nevada’s Board of Medical Examiners, including medical doctors (MD) and the physician assistants it licenses. It does not describe the rules for nurses or doctors with a DO medical degree, also called osteopathic doctors, who have different boards.

### What would a useful answer sound like?

Ask what studies show about helping people with your health problem. Ask what those studies cannot tell you and how the person caring for you will check whether treatment is helping.

## A pharmacy name you cannot check

Ozempic and Wegovy contain the medicine semaglutide; Mounjaro and Zepbound contain tirzepatide. Ozempic and Mounjaro treat type 2 diabetes; Wegovy and Zepbound help with weight management, as checked September 26, 2026.

Labels on compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide had fraudulently named nonexistent pharmacies, FDA had found by September 26, 2026.

Some false labels used real pharmacy names even though those pharmacies had not made the product.

Search the pharmacy name with the state board, then ask the pharmacy about anything that does not match.

Evidence note

### Appearance can mislead

Seals that seem official and promises of guaranteed results may be made up, warns the Federal Trade Commission.

FTC: checking online health offers

The commission is the federal consumer-protection agency.
